Russ Milner, 93, waits for customers to arrive at the Calusa Animal Inn in Gainesville, Fla. Milner opened the boarding facility with his wife.
Milner's days are spent watching movies, waiting for dogs and taking care of current residents.
Dog food is expensive. To deal with costs, Milner shops at the Dollar General, filling up a cart with both wet and dry food.
Milner and his wife lived next door to the inn before she passed years ago. The house is now falling apart, but Milner still visits, bringing food to a small, elusive black cat.
His old home is filled with memories. Milner once worked for Columbia Records, escorting the likes of Nancy Sinatra, Buddy Holly and even The King himself.
Complaints from neighbors mean Milner could lose the Inn and perhaps his home, too.
But he continues on in the hopes of remaining open, both for himself and for the dogs.
